North Sea Salt

from €7.99

You will fall in love with this sea salt…it is “THE ONE”. It has all those qualities you look for in a salt…and it has that “extra thing”. Balanced but intriguing. Lively but serious. If “sexy” could ever be used to describe a salt…it is this salt.

(Apologies: we may have lost the plot at “sexy salt”. Moving on…)

The seasonal changes make this gourmet salt a unique addition to your meals, beverages and daily rituals. Our North Sea salt delivers a consistent experience while adding in the subtle, brilliant flavors that we experience with the changing seasons.

There is sea salt…and then there is this sea salt! An ambitious curiosity that became one of our original craft salts. Cured for a balanced but unique flavor…adding the salt flavor you're looking for but also playfully teasing your senses.

Origin Story

This is one of those “why can't we do this ourselves” curiosity, turned hobby, turned obsession.

The North Sea Salt is your reliable, go-to player…put them in the game/match and this MVP will perform! (Metaphor stretch? Yeah, probably.)

It is a “grab it and know you'll enjoy it” flavor…a critical compliment to everything (yes, everything) you do in the kitchen.

You can be wildly confident that this gourmet salt can be called upon for any project: cooking, beverages, brining, BBQ, etc. Our North Sea Salt is an all-around, versatile seasoning…but…it would be a mistake to think its subtlety is a weakness. This salt has character…it has a point of view.

Natural Flavors, Distinctive Character Without Being Obnoxious

Being the “salty” people we are, we believe that salt should have a “personality”. Now, hey…no judgement if you want a totally neutral, no-frills taste…grab that table salt and have at it! But if you're looking for a bit of an adventure, this North Sea Salt is unique in that we keep the clean, natural flavors of its source in the salt.

Cool…But Does It Taste Like Seaweed or What?!

Great question. No.

That's why we say it has “character without being obnoxious”.

We've all been there…doing our thing in the ocean when we get leveled by a wave. Tossed and tumbled in the majestic beauty of it all - sand, sea water, “sea stuff”, etc. Regaining our balance (with a check of and adjustment to our bathing suits) we get a taste of that oceany sweetness…reminding us where we are and what we are enjoying (hopefully).

That is the flavor we have strived for in our North Sea Salt (without the sandy grit)!

Featured Uses

  • Is the star of (fine…as the amazing base for) a BBQ rub

  • Extremely versatile in cooking

  • Good as a direct seasoning; especially on veggies and salads

  • Nice addition to salting your own (unsalted) butter

  • Excellent pairing with white wine sauces; especially those with seafood (e.g. shrimp scampi)

Cool, Customer Usage

  • Used as the “secret ingredient” in a basmati rice “that's out of this world” (hang on, hang on…we have permission to let the secret out).

  • Picnic Partner: used to “reinvigorate” dishes at a picnic that may have been in the cooler/on the table for awhile.

  • Mom's Magic School Lunch: another “secret ingredient” that has been used to “magically make all your food taste the best”; from peanut butter, lunch meat and even “the healthy stuff” like cottage cheese.

Lots more for us to sort through and, ultimately (and with permission), turn into recipes!

Caring for Your Salt

Store at room temperature.

Note: watch for placement near “mean, sneaky and unexpected” heat sources.  For example, your:

  • Stove/hob (particularly high-volume burners).

  • High-heat kitchen appliances (e.g. air fryers and espresso machines).

  • Tops (warm air vent) of refrigerators.

For our High-Humidity Customers

Tried-and-True:

Just a few grains of uncooked, white rice added to your salt shaker or container.

Interesting:

You can make a sachet - cheese cloth, vegetable bag, tea bag, etc. - and fill it with parsley, cloves or other moisture-eating herb. Note: this can flavor your salt…so be careful…or don't and let us know about your awesome, new flavor combination.
