The Essential "Salt Duster"
Your everyday salt shaker certainly fits into the category of “innovation of long ago, now taken for granted”. And while we respect the role the Shaker has played in countless tables over the centuries, we believe that Dusted & Salty gourmet salts require a new tool for a new era. (A bit dramatic, yeah?)
The care and precision of our process creates a fine powder (for most of our salts) which can be artfully applied using this stainless steel, micro-mesh shaker.
This tool (no…not that kind of "tool”) can be especially valuable when applying Dusted & Salty gourmet salts directly to prepared dishes, snacks, desserts, etc.
You may already have the ultimate salt shaker…stylish, effective, great at parties and all that. We are not about to tell you where to place your love…and we're not saying “we're better”.
But…we are saying that we might have a nice complement to your family of salt shakers, salt mills, salt cellars, etc.
Origin Story
Silly but true. The Duster came from a friendly (but intense) “salt dusting” competition. (Yes, thank you…we're aware it sounds crazy.)
The early, formative days of Dusted & Salty often involved heated discussions about the product, its potential uses and even how to actually “apply” it. (We are playing it up a bit here to give you that dramatic feel…but it is also true…and was the reason behind a few of our products…even some that are still in development. :) )
One evening a few of us enjoyed a meal together and, as you might have guessed, a prototype of Dusted & Salty powdered salt was also present.
Somehow, the group found itself in the thrilling discussion of “salting technique”. Pretty common, right? We're positive you can relate…deffo it's happened to you and yours on more than one occasion.
The debate centered around some key “salting” principles, like: optimal coverage, enhancing taste and even speed (so as not to keep others waiting for the salt).
Well there were definitely differing “schools of thought” and so kitchen drawers were opened and creatively scavenged for treasure. That rando collection of “tools” turned into an organized “dusting competition” with set heights, standardized plate placement and salt amount.
It was silly. It was fun. Results were as wildly debated as they were inconclusive.
Finally someone assumed the role of Reasonable Adult and said, “what we really need is a small, simple container like they use to put powdered sugar on cakes and donuts. [miming a most impressive “dusting” technique] You know?!”
And so… “Hellooooo!” to The Duster.
Fin.
